The first sixty-seven pages go over the basics of anatomy and physiology to get you acquainted with your body and how it works. If you know about the stress response and pain and diabetes, it might be possible for you to skip this first part of the book. It gives the information in a paragraph or two of text followed by a series of essential points that are accompanied by a fun illustration. In the chapters themselves, there are seven of them as you might have assumed from the title.

Each of them is split further into seven reasons for doing what it suggests. Among them might be anecdotes and stories about his time helping people because of his profession or full case studies done by research hospitals or schools. Ultimately, you are the one in control and the one who chooses a healthy meal over a brownie or a walk in the park over a pack a day cigarette habit.

I mostly got this book for advice in terms of weight-loss but you can use it for smoking cessation or other types of addiction. For those who hate the cutesy pictures in this book and in the YOU series written with Dr. Oz, I strongly recommend Dr. These are scientifically written and contain only information that has been verified by five or more meta-studies, including long-term, epidemiological studies and controlled lab tests, always double-blind and peer-reviewed.

This Is Your Do-Over, like the YOU books, certainly counts as one of the cutesy ones written to entertain a nonscientific audience, whereas the Real Age books are aimed at intelligent readers who hope to increase their lifespan while living in top form.

I once saw Dr. Roizen interviewed about why he and Oz had written the YOU series and he said, without seeming to want to flatter women, that the YOU books were a "dumbed-down" series aimed at men, who, overall, have less interest in the minute scientific details of weight loss and health. In a culture that devalues overweight women, it makes sense that women would read enough books and articles on weight loss to become highly literate in the science of health.

All that said, I have to rate this book highly in spite of the cutesiness because Dr. Roizen has proven his trustworthiness in the Real Age books and there is new information here that is so helpful it outweighs the silly pictures. Specifically worth highlighting, IMHO, "It is very, very easy to out-eat your activity, because in the grand equation between how much you burn and how much you eat, the average person will never be able to out-burn a bad diet.

I gave it a 3 stars because that is probably because I've read a ton of health books so maybe this is just better if you're just starting to care about your physical body. I never thought my perp walk would lead to true love. Then again, I never thought I'd be arrested on RICO charges and hauled away in zip ties on camera for the world to see, minutes after closing the most amazing deal of my career.

And all of it in front of my biggest rival, billionaire wunderkind Ian McCrory. I am broke. I am disgraced. I am alone. I am a sucker. But the worst part?
